The Mercy Of God…

First and foremost let’s talk about the mercy of God.
God has mercy on the sinner not because of what the sinner has done by his own power. God could actually be in the right if he condemned all people to Hell. He is a just God. If he rained fire and brimstone(sulfur) and each of us died violently after being struck by the fire and brimstone He is still a just God. We are sinners still. We are sinners saved by the grace of God. God is holy and hates sin. Remember what the Bible says about sin.-

“For when you were slaves of sin, you were free in regard to righteousness. But what fruit were you getting at that time from the things of which you are now ashamed? For the end of those things is death. But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the fruit you get leads to sanctification and its end, eternal life. For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”-Romans 6:20-23(ESV)

We must remember what the Scriptures say concerning God’s mercy.-

“As it is written, “Jacob I loved, but Esau I hated.” What shall we say then? Is there injustice on God’s part? By no means! For he says to Moses, “I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion.” So then it depends not on human will or exertion, but on God, who has mercy. For the Scripture says to Pharaoh, “For this very purpose I have raised you up, that I might show my power in you, and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth.” So then he has mercy on whomever he wills, and he hardens whomever he wills.”-‭‭Romans‬ ‭9:13-18‬ ‭(ESV‬‬)

I’ve heard people say,”That’s unfair that God has mercy on whomever he wills.

And I answer them with Scripture first and foremost.

“Our God is in the heavens; he does all that he pleases.”-Psalm‬ ‭115:3‬ ‭(ESV‬)

God is God he does whatever he wants.

If he wanted he could have no mercy on his creation and still be perfectly just.

But he does have mercy on those who trust him.

The Lord Our Righteousness

We are not saved by anything that we can do. We are not saved by our righteousness that we accomplished by our own works. We are indeed saved by what Christ has done. By his sacrifice and atonement on the cross for our sins we are saved.

“Since, therefore, we have now been justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved by him from the wrath of God. For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by his life. More than that, we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.”-‭‭Romans‬ ‭5:9-11‬ ‭ESV‬‬

“In his days Judah will be saved, and Israel will dwell securely. And this is the name by which he will be called: ‘The Lord is our righteousness.’”‭‭-Jeremiah‬ ‭23:6‬ ‭ESV‬‬

The Lord is our righteousness, just as it says in the scriptures.
We are born in sin.

“Therefore, just as sin came into the world through one man, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men because all sinned— for sin indeed was in the world before the law was given, but sin is not counted where there is no law. Yet death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over those whose sinning was not like the transgression of Adam, who was a type of the one who was to come.”‭‭-Romans‬ ‭5:12-14‬ ‭ESV‬‬

By nature we are dead in trespasses and sins. And we were sons of disobedience.

“And you were dead in the trespasses and sins in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience— among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind.”-‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭2:1-3‬ ‭ESV‬‬

This is my closing statement: We are now reconciled to God through Jesus Christ. We have assurance in our faith. We are sure that we are saved because Christ will not lose those that were given to him.

“My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand.”-‭‭John‬ ‭10:27-28‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Why I hold to the Doctrines of Grace

IMG_1666I will start this blog post by explaining why I hold to the Doctrines of Grace. I simply hold to them because I read the concept and teaching of the Doctrines of Grace that I read in the Holy Scriptures-The Bible.

The Doctrines of Grace are commonly called the 5 Points of Calvinism. They are represented by the acronym  T.U.L.I.P.

  1. T-Total Depravity, mankind is conceived and born into sin. Just as it is written in Psalm 51:5(ESV)-Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, and in sin did my mother conceive me. It is also written in Romans 5:12-14(ESV)-Therefore, just as sin came into the world through one man, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men because all sinned- for sin indeed was in the world before the law was given, but sin is not counted where there is no law. Yet death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over those whose sinning was not like the transgression of Adam, who was a type of the one who was to come.
  2. U-Unconditional Election, this simply means God’s choice of his Elect/true Christians or true followers. As it is written in Romans 9:9-26(ESV)-9 For this is what the promise said: “About this time next year I will return, and Sarah shall have a son.”10 And not only so, but also when Rebekah had conceived children by one man, our forefather Isaac,11 though they were not yet born and had done nothing either good or bad-in order that God’s purpose of election might continue, not because of works but because of him who calls-12 she was told, “The older will serve the younger.”13 As it is written, “Jacob I loved, but Esau I hated.”14 What shall we say then? Is there injustice on God’s part? By no means!15 For he says to Moses, “I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion.”16 So then it depends not on human will or exertion, but on God, who has mercy.17 For the Scripture says to Pharaoh, “For this very purpose I have raised you up, that I might show my power in you, and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth.”18 So then he has mercy on whomever he wills, and he hardens whomever he wills.19 You will say to me then, “Why does he still find fault? For who can resist his will?”20 But who are you, O man, to answer back to God? Will what is molded say to its molder, “Why have you made me like this?”21 Has the potter no right over the clay, to make out of the same lump one vessel for honorable use and another for dishonorable use?22 What if God, desiring to show his wrath and to make known his power, has endured with much patience vessels of wrath prepared for destruction,23 in order to make known the riches of his glory for vessels of mercy, which he has prepared beforehand for glory-24 even us whom he has called, not from the Jews only but also from the Gentiles?25 As indeed he says in Hosea, “Those who were not my people I will call ‘my people,’ and her who was not beloved I will call ‘beloved.'” 26 “And in the very place where it was said to them, ‘You are not my people,’ there they will be called ‘sons of the living God.'”
  3. L-Limited Atonement, Jesus Christ died for only the Elect. Therefore he didn’t die for the sins of every single person who has ever lived. As it is written in Matthew 26:27-28(ESV) 27And he took a cup, and when he had given thanks he gave it to them, saying, “Drink of it, all of you,28 for this is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.     Isaiah 53:12(ESV)-Therefore I will divide him a portion with the many, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong, because he poured out his soul to death and was numbered with the transgressors; yet he bore the sin of many, and makes intercession for the transgressors.       John 10:11,14;15(ESV)-I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.    14 I am the good shepherd. I know my own and my own know me,15 just as the Father knows me and I know the Father; and I lay down my life for the sheep.
  4. I-Irresistible Grace, we cannot resist God and his grace when the Father gives us to the Son. As it is written in John 6:37-40(ESV)37 All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never cast out.38 For I have come down from heaven, not to do my own will but the will of him who sent me.39 And this is the will of him who sent me, that I should lose nothing of all that he has given me, but raise it up on the last day.40 For this is the will of my Father, that everyone who looks on the Son and believes in him should have eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day.”
  5. P-Perseverance of the Saints, the saints persevere because the Spirit helps us in our weakness. In the midst of the Spirit helping us we therefore persevere in our Faith in Jesus Christ . As it is written in Romans 8:26-30(ESV) 26 Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.27 And he who searches hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.28 And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.29 For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers.30 And those whom he predestined he also called, and those whom he called he also justified, and those whom he justified he also glorified.

Sovereignty of God

I’ve been reading the book”The Sovereignty of God” by Arthur W. Pink. I’ve also been reading my Bible.

In modern culture it’s a misconception that people believe that the Devil has power over this world/earth. This in fact is not true. God is sovereign. He is all powerful, all knowing, and in control. So many people tend to try to strip God of his power by trying to limit him. You can’t limit God. We are the clay and he is the potter. Does not the potter have authority over the clay?

I’m going to quote some verses that talk about God’s sovereignty.-

Yours, O LORD, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty, for all that is in the heavens and in the earth is yours. Yours is the kingdom, O LORD, and you are exalted as head above all. – 1 Chronicles 29:11

Our God is in the heavens; he does all that he pleases. – Psalm 115:3

Whatever the LORD pleases, he does, in heaven and on earth, in the seas and all deeps. – Psalm 135:6

all the inhabitants of the earth are accounted as nothing, and he does according to his will among the host of heaven and among the inhabitants of the earth; and none can stay his hand or say to him, “What have you done?” – Daniel 4:35

I hope that those Bible verses don’t come across to you as that God is not all powerful. Clearly in those verses God’s word is clearly proclaiming that the Lord is sovereign. Satan has no power over the earth. God created not only the earth and everything within it. But he also created the universe and everything within the entire universe. Does he not have power over his creation?

Doctrine of Election

The doctrine of election is a tough doctrine  to swallow, believe me I know. I used to deny the doctrine of election myself.

The more I read and became familiar with my Bible the more I began to realize that this doctrine of election is essential because the Holy Scriptures do teach this particular doctrine.

I’m going to quote some Scriptures on the subject of election and the elect. Now in John chapter 10 Christ refers to the word sheep used instead of the word elect.-

24So the Jews gathered around him and said to him, ”How long will you keep us in suspense? If you are the Christ, tell us plainly.” 25Jesus answered them, “I told you, and you do not believe. The works that I do in my Father’s name bear witness about me, 26 but you do not believe me because you are not among my sheep,-John 10:24-26(ESV)

9 For this is what the promise said: “About this time next year I will return, and Sarah shall have a son.”10 And not only so, but also when Rebekah had conceived children by one man, our forefather Isaac,11 though they were not yet born and had done nothing either good or bad-in order that God’s purpose of election might continue, not because of works but because of him who calls-12 she was told, “The older will serve the younger.”13 As it is written, “Jacob I loved, but Esau I hated.”14 What shall we say then? Will what is molded say to its molder, “Why have you made me like this?”21 Has the potter no right over the clay, to make out of the same lump one vessel for honorable use and another for dishonorable use?22 What if God, desiring to show his wrath and to make known his power, has endured with much patience vessels of wrath prepared for destruction,23 in order to make known the riches of his glory for vessels of mercy, which he has prepared beforehand for glory-24 even us whom he has called, not from the Jews only but also from the Gentiles?25 As indeed he says in Hosea, “Those who were not my people I will call ‘my people,’ and her who was not beloved I will call ‘beloved.'” 26 “And in the very place where it was said to them, ‘You are not my people,’ there they will be called ‘sons of the living God.'”-Romans 9:9-26(ESV)

There indeed is no doubt that the doctrine of election is Biblical. It is evident that God chooses his elect/true followers.

I Repent For Using The Term…

I stand as a humble man before you o,Lord. Forgive me God please. I repent for using the term Sarcastic Calvinist. I admit that sarcasm and theology doesn’t go together. Sarcasm is mocking of people. People are made in the image of God Almighty. I don’t want to mock his creation and I surely don’t want to mock the Sovereign Lord who created them.

Here’s a Scripture that I read today-2 Corinthians 7:10(ESV)-For godly grief produces a repentance that leads to salvation without regret, whereas worldly grief produces death.

I agree with the Doctrines Of Grace-The T.U.L.I.P.-

  • T-Total Depravity
  • U-Unconditional Election
  • L-Limited Atonement
  • I-Irresistible Grace
  • P-Perseverance Of The Saints

Now I’m still learning. Feel free to comment to give me your insight.
