We are not saved by anything that we can do. We are not saved by our righteousness that we accomplished by our own works. We are indeed saved by what Christ has done. By his sacrifice and atonement on the cross for our sins we are saved.
“Since, therefore, we have now been justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved by him from the wrath of God. For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by his life. More than that, we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.”-Romans 5:9-11 ESV
“In his days Judah will be saved, and Israel will dwell securely. And this is the name by which he will be called: ‘The Lord is our righteousness.’”-Jeremiah 23:6 ESV
The Lord is our righteousness, just as it says in the scriptures.
We are born in sin.
“Therefore, just as sin came into the world through one man, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men because all sinned— for sin indeed was in the world before the law was given, but sin is not counted where there is no law. Yet death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over those whose sinning was not like the transgression of Adam, who was a type of the one who was to come.”-Romans 5:12-14 ESV
By nature we are dead in trespasses and sins. And we were sons of disobedience.
“And you were dead in the trespasses and sins in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience— among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind.”-Ephesians 2:1-3 ESV
This is my closing statement: We are now reconciled to God through Jesus Christ. We have assurance in our faith. We are sure that we are saved because Christ will not lose those that were given to him.
“My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand.”-John 10:27-28 ESV
